Care and Maintenance for Your Hardwood Floor
Prefinished wood flooring is finished with Urethane or Aluminum Oxide Urethane. Caring for your wood floor is simple if you follow a few basic principles.
-
Always blot up spills with a damp cloth as soon as the spill occurs, then wipe the area dry.
-
Vacuum or sweep the floor twice per week.
-
Once a month, use a polyurethane wood floor cleaner following instructions on the label. Consult your floor covering dealer for these products.
Remember, wood and water do not mix.
-
The use of walk-off mats at all entrances to home or office will help remove grit and dirt from your home that might be harmful to the finish.
-
To prevent denting or scratching on your wood floor, apply protective pads to the legs of chairs and other furniture.
-
Wipe up spills immediately.
-
Maintain normal interior humidity levels of 45-60%.
Please do not do the following:
-
Do not wax the floor, use conditioners, or acrylic waxes.
-
Do not use steel wool on the floor.
-
Do not use soap or detergents on the floor and never pour water directly onto the floor.
-
Do not use ammonia-base cleaners.
